On Friday, March 22, 2019, guests gathered at the beautiful Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth to attend the third edition of Le Bal Rouge, an annual fundraising gala hosted by the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Foundation.
The elegant soirée celebrated the achievements of Dr. Miguel Burnier, Director of the MUHC’s Ocular Pathology Laboratory and the first Canadian President of the Pan American Ophthalmology Association. Le Bal Rouge raised $1 million for the Laboratory, a word-class facility leading cutting-edge research into rare eye diseases. Thanks to the generosity of our community, a total of $5 million was raised over the course of 15 months for the Dr. Miguel Burnier 20/20 Campaign in support of the Ocular Pathology Laboratory.
Dr. Burnier’s leadership in the advancement of ophthalmology was highlighted at the elegant event co-chaired by Michael Denham, President and CEO of BDC and Brian Hannasch, President and CEO of Couche-Tard. The evening’s emcee was comedian Jessica Salomon. Guests enjoyed lively music, a spectacular performance from trapeze artists, a delicious four-course meal, and the chance to bid on fabulous prizes at a silent auction in support of the Ocular Pathology Laboratory.
